Listening to Our Gut Brain

par Sister Dang NghiemJuly 6, 2021

Part of a new series of practices kindly offered by mindfulness teacher Sister Dang Nghiem, this audio offers guidance on awareness of the body in the body which helps us recognize feelings as they arise, allowing our intelligence to distinguish them and investigate their root cause.

In this exercise, you listen to the deeper sensations and emotional messages that are reflected from your gut brain. They may be feelings of safety, ease, and settlement, or unsettlement, insecurity, worry, excitement, or fear.

The content of this audio draws on Sister Dang Nghiem's latest book, Flowers in the Dark (2021), a deeply thoughtful guide to healing trauma with mindfulness practice. By bringing together her lived experience as a survivor, a certified MD, and an ordained Buddhist teacher, she offers a body-based, practical approach to healing from the most difficult and painful life experiences.
