About These Talks
The talks by Thich Nhat Hanh have been recorded live at retreats and public events around the world. You might be able to enjoy some background noises as well as the words of the talk.
When listening to a dharma talk you can take the time to breathe mindfully and come back to yourself. You can feel the presence of your body and you can touch your emotions, that is what the dharma talk is speaking to. The dharma talk is like rain falling on a the soil, penetrating slowly into your consciousness allowing you to touch seeds of peace, seeds and love, helping you to get a deeper understanding concerning your old life, your happiness and your suffering.
At the beginning, end and during the talk, the bell is invited. When this happens, everyone practices to stop and come back to their breathing and enjoy three breaths with each sound of the bell. You might like to also use the sound of the bell in this way as you listen to the talks.
If you listen to many talks, you will hear teachings repeated. Don’t worry! Even if we already understand something intellectually, it can be useful to listen again and again, treating it like a guided meditation to gently remind ourselves to bring mindfulness into every moment we can.
