When we breathe in and out with awareness, we are practising mindful breathing - and when we breathe mindfully, we can return to the body and be fully alive in presence.
In this recording, Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh explains how mindfulness provides an opportunity to come home to ourselves, allowing us to touch joy and take care of more difficult emotions such as anger and fear. He also explains how a regular practice encourages our awareness to deepen, bringing with it the energy of concentration.
Together with the energy of mindfulness, concentration allows us to look deeply into the nature of our suffering and generate insights, which can help us in our liberation.
