"Inside each of us, there are two deep desires. When these two deep desires are satisfied, we have lots of joy and lots of happiness.

"The first deep desire is the desire for understanding. Understanding means right understanding, right views, insights. Our potentiality—our seed, of understanding wants us to satisfy its need. (It's) our curiosity. We desire to learn, to know, to understand.

"We also have another equally great desire called Great Love. Great Love is the kind of love that can embrace all beings the same. In each one of us, we all have that potentiality, that seed. That potentiality, that seed, wants us to satisfy its need. The more satisfied it gets, the greater our happiness becomes.

"The object of great love is very wide and broad. It's not discriminatory. Even if we take care of ourselves, that's not being biased because, we know if we do something for ourselves and take good care of ourselves, we take care of the other person at the same time.

"Meanwhile, the passionate and clingy kind of love is discriminatory. It only has this one person as its 'loved one' and the rest are not."
