Brother Troi Nguyen Luc

Monastic

Brother Troi Nguyen Luc grew up in Thailand and Australia. While at university, he volunteered with charities helping those in need, an experience that led him to make improving people's lives his main purpose.

Seeking to transform his own suffering, he ordained as a Theravada monk for five months before later discovering Thích Nhất Hạnh and the Plum Village tradition during a visit to Thailand in 2010. Inspired by Thầy's example of integrating spiritual practice with compassionate action, he requested ordination in the Plum Village Sangha and was ordained in 2013.

Brother Troi Nguyen Luc describes his journey as moving from environmental activism to spiritual activism. His practice is rooted in healing and transformation, reconciliation with his family, and developing the inner capacity to respond to suffering with understanding, wisdom, and compassion. He aspires to continue Thầy's example of working for the well-being of individuals, society, and the Earth through mindful practice.
