This audio consists of a 2-minute introduction and 7-minute meditation.
In the recording, Sister Dang Nghiem introduces the two wings of meditation: stopping and deep looking. When we meditate, we first return to our breath in order to stop our running to the past or future and quieten our thoughts. We can then bring our awareness to the physical sensations of our body. Once our mind is anchored stably in the breath and body, we can proceed with the second wing of meditation (deep looking) with a specific topic for contemplation.
In this meditation, Sister Dang Nghiem invites us to connect with our inner child: fragile, vulnerable and experiencing suffering. We can recognise how the pain of our inner child continues to manifest in our daily life, and are invited to gently embrace this child with our stable posture, mindful breathing and heart of compassion.
This is the first part of a two-part series on embracing the inner child. For the meditation on embracing the wounded child in our parents, please click here.
