Morning Chant (Canto de la Mañana)
The Morning Chant is sung at the beginning of the morning sitting meditation. In the Plum Village monasteries the Morning Chant is most often sung in English, Vietnamese or French, but sometimes also in other languages, like in this chant by Brother Duc Tri in Spanish.
Below you find the original Spanish text and the English translation.
Spanish text:
El cuerpo del Dharma
iradia luz en la mañana
En concentración
el corazón
está en paz
Una ligera sonrisa
brota en nuestros labios
Es un nuevo día
nos proponemos
vivirlo en plena consciencia
El sol de la sabiduría
ya se alza iluminando
en toda dirección
Noble sangha con diligencia
practiquemos la meditación
Namo Shakyamunaye Buddhaya
Namo Shakyamunaye Buddhaya
Namo Shakyamunaye Buddhaya
English translation:
The Dharma body is bringing morning light.
In concentration, our hearts are at peace,
a half-smile is born upon our lips.
This is a new day. We vow to go through it in mindfulness.
The sun of wisdom has now risen, shining in every direction.
Noble Sangha, diligently bring your mind into meditation.
