In this first aspect of Touching the Earth, Sister Chan Khong invites us to focus our attention on our blood family and see our young parents alive in us: to feel our mother’s vitality running through our veins and and discover in our body the keen intelligence and dynamism of our father.
Then we are taught to connect to our ancestors’ gifts: the compassion of our grandparents - their loving kindness; their talents; their aspirations.
The practice concludes with a key component: we pour onto the earth our mother’s negative habits, our father’s anger - we let the earth absorb all of their suffering and unwholesome manifestations so that they can be transformed into flowers of understanding and forgiveness.
